Celebrating World Breast Feeding Week
At Altitude Pediatrics, we recognize the important role breastfeeding plays in the health and well-being of babies and parents. Breastfeeding provides vital nutrients and antibodies that help protect infants from illnesses and support healthy growth.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 84% of babies in the United States begin breastfeeding, and nearly 58% continue to breastfeed at 6 months.
Breastfeeding not only supports a baby’s immune system but also promotes bonding between parent and child. We understand that every family's experience is different, and whether you breastfeed, pump, or use formula, Altitude Pediatrics is here to support you with resources and guidance.
This Breastfeeding Week, we celebrate all families nurturing their little ones and encourage open, supportive conversations about feeding choices. If you have any questions or need help, please reach out to our team—we’re here for you every step of the way!
Upcoming Events from the Western Slope Breastfeeding Coalition
The Western Slope Breastfeeding Coalition (WSBC) works tirelessly to support breastfeeding families and improve care in our community. Here are two upcoming events to keep on your radar:
Thursday, August 21 at 10 a.m.: Join the virtual Fall Coalition meeting featuring guest speaker Ali Reynolds from Valley Lactation and The Birth Place at Community Hospital. Ali will discuss all things pump-related, including the latest on flange fitting and pump gear. Follow the Western Slope Breastfeeding Coalition for more information.

Save the Date — Friday, November 14: The WSBC will host Bridge the Gaps, a full-day in-person conference in Grand Junction focusing on evaluating gaps in care for postpartum families. (CERPs pending.) Follow the Western Slope Breastfeeding Coalition for more information.

We encourage all families to participate and benefit from these valuable community resources!
