Infant Sleep Monitoring: Tips with the Altitude Team
Infant sleeping is a common concern with parents. The FDA hasn’t cleared or approved any product to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Therefore, creating a safe infant sleep environment is of the utmost importance and counseling all parents regarding safe infant sleep recommendations remains essential.
Here are some tips to help create a safe sleep environment for your baby:
- Place infant on their back for every sleep until 1 year old.
- Place infant to sleep on a firm surface with a firm mattress and a fitted sheet.
- No loose bedding, stuffed animals or soft objects in the baby’s crib.
- Avoid overheating. Over-bundling and any loose clothing.
- Place the baby in footed pajamas with a light cover tucked at the bottom and sides of crib, coming no higher than armpit level.
At your next visit - talk with your provider on your questions regarding SIDS and any sleep monitoring questions.
