Dr. Katie Joy
Dr. Kathleen “Katie” Joy is a Board Certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been practicing in Grand Junction since 2014 and on the Western Slope since 2011. Born in Sterling, Colorado, she moved and spent the early years of her life growing up in the state of Alaska. It was during these years where she grew her appreciation for the closeness of a local community and importance of a connection to the land around her. Her family returned to Colorado during her adolescence. Despite moving to many different places over the years she continues to return to the Rocky Mountains which she calls home. Colorado fosters the appreciation for the outdoors and community she continues to cherish.
Dr. Joy received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado in 2000 and medical degree from Des Moines University, College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. Her pediatric residency was completed at the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital in 2011 where she focused on general pediatric care. She enjoys caring for children from birth to 21 years. She focuses on preventive care, helping families access the resources they need to stay healthy, visiting the newborns at the hospital and providing continuity of care upon the arrival of those newborns.
When not in the clinic, you can be sure that she will be alongside her husband, TL, adventuring on their bikes and skis along with partaking in the fantastic music and food opportunities the valley has to offer. Dr. Joy is proud to call Grand Junction her home, and considers herself to be extremely lucky to provide health care to the families of this community.
