Well Child Visits

Altitude Pediatrics strives to keep our patients as healthy as possible, and we believe that the cornerstone of pediatrics is well-child care. It provides us with an opportunity to evaluate your child’s growth and development.

At Altitude Pediatrics, we follow the Bright Futures/American Academy of Pediatrics Recommendations for Preventative Pediatric Health Care, which is also known as the “Periodicity Schedule”. If you have concerns with this schedule, please speak to your provider for more information.

Altitude Pediatrics requires patients to be seen for one well child exam every 2 years at minimum. We may require a well child exam if it has been more than 2 years before we are able to schedule additional appointments.

We prefer to receive the patient’s medical records prior to the first visit so we can determine if any further immunizations or laboratory tests are needed. We will make this process as easy as possible. Please try to make your check-up appointments in advance.

We will periodically send out reminder recalls of yearly checkups or overdue vaccines. Be aware that your insurance plan may require a full 12-month time span between routine checkups. Please be aware of the date of your child’s last physical when scheduling new appointments.

Sick At Well Visits Policy

We are required (by law) to document any ADDITIONAL concerns or conditions that arise during well visits. The codes used may have charges and therefore may require a CO-PAY at your child’s well visit as well as other fees that may not be covered by your insurance or that are applied to your deductible. This may include fever, ear infections, strep, or other illnesses that require additional attention. Click here for information about what is covered during a well visit and what is not.

Late Arrivals/No Show Policy

Patients arriving more than 10 minutes past their appointment time will be marked as a missed appointment. If there is availability, the patient may be rescheduled for later in the day, but this is not a guarantee as Well Visits and Follow Ups require more time than Sick Visits. If we are unable to reschedule for later the same day, the Well Visit or Follow-up will be scheduled for a later date and subject to availability.

As a courtesy, we will remind you of missed appointments and try to reschedule your child as soon as possible.

Three “no-shows” or same-day cancellations per family may result in the inability to schedule appointments in advance. Continued missed appointments or same day cancellations may result in dismissal from the practice.

General Appointment Information

Visits are by appointment only. Patients who walk in without a scheduled appointment may be offered the next available time slot.

We offer same day sick appointments for your convenience. These appointments are available on a first come, first serve basis, and if unavailable, we may refer you to an urgent care or emergency department to ensure your child receives care.

Please check in 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. This is to give you time to update your family’s information, complete any required forms, and to complete all pre-visit measurements and vitals.

You will receive appointment reminders by text and/or phone call. Please confirm appointments scheduled more than 2 days in advance by replying to the reminder message. Appointments scheduled for the same day or next day are considered confirmed at the time of scheduling.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your child’s appointment, we will be happy to assist you. Please make appointment changes no later than 24 hours (1 business day) before your appointment.

Sick Visits

We offer same day sick appointments. Please call within business hours to schedule. Please note, you may be asked to schedule a same-day or next-day appointment. In some instances, you may be asked to speak with a nurse before scheduling an appointment.

Altitude Pediatrics Vaccine Support Statement

We firmly believe in the effectiveness of vaccines to prevent serious illness and to save lives.

We firmly believe in the safety of our vaccines. Based on all available literature, evidence and current studies, vaccines do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.

We believe in the benefits and importance of regular vaccinations and following the recommended vaccination schedule for our pediatric population. Vaccinating children and young adults may be the single most important health-promoting intervention we perform as healthcare providers, and that you can perform as parents and caregivers.

We adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These guidelines are supported by both the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Childhood vaccines are crucial to maintaining healthy children and communities. As medical professionals, we believe that vaccinating children on schedule with currently available vaccines is absolutely the right thing to do for all children, adolescents, and adults.

The recommended vaccines and the vaccine schedule are the results of years and years of scientific study and data gathering on millions of children by thousands of our brightest scientists and physicians.

We do not issue non-medical exemptions for vaccines. For those parents and guardians who choose to not have their children vaccinated and wish to obtain a non-medical exemption, they will need to complete the online module provided by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE).

We encourage you to discuss any concerns, doubts, or questions you may have about vaccines with your health care provider. Let’s help keep each other healthy and safe!

Vaccines can be given at nurse-only appointments once established with a provider. Your provider may require an appointment if your child is not up to date on well child exams.

If you choose not to vaccinate your child, Altitude will request you sign a refusal statement, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics' to ensure you understand the risks and benefits of not vaccinating your child/children.
