Dr. Paula Lopez
Dr. Paula Lopez is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). She has been caring for children and young adults as a pediatrician in Grand Junction since 2013 and looks forward to continuing her work at Altitude Pediatrics.
Dr. Lopez grew up in Wyoming and stayed close to home for college in Nebraska and then moved to Phoenix where she lived for nearly 10 years. She received her medical degree at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. Training as a Doctor of Osteopathy enhanced her education in the musculoskeletal system and emphasized a preventative approach to health. Upon completion of her degree she then completed her pediatric residency training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Paula appreciates the continued challenge of medicine, healing those who are sick or hurt, and educating children and their families about their health. She enjoys seeing newborns and being able to care for patients who require hospitalization at St Mary's Medical Center. Additionally, she is passionate about teaching students who are pursuing a career in medicine, while continuing to learn and grow her own skills. She is committed to practicing evidence-based medicine and following guidelines established by groups of experts such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, Centers for Disease Control And Prevention, and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
Much of Paula's free time is spent outdoors, cooking, and enjoying her husband, two children, and her dog.
